Mastercard and Rabitabank launch Carbon Calculator in Azerbaijan to help consumers reduce environmental impact Новости

Mastercard, in partnership with Rabitabank, is advancing environmental sustainability efforts in Azerbaijan with the introduction of its Carbon Calculator, an innovative tool that helps consumers better understand their estimated carbon footprint.

The Mastercard Carbon Calculator is now available through Rabitabank, empowering Azerbaijani consumers to make more informed and environmentally conscious spending decisions.

Developed in collaboration with Doconomy, the Mastercard Carbon Calculator provides users with a clear picture of their estimated individual carbon emissions based on their purchases across various categories. As this solution supports global and national sustainability goals by supporting more informed purchasing decisions.

“Mastercard, together with Rabitabank, is committed to providing digital solutions that that inspire, inform and enable more sustainable choices and reduce environmental impact. Rabitabank’s adoption of the Carbon Calculator will help their customers participate in the global effort to mitigate climate change,” said Avşar Gürdal, Türkiye and Azerbaijan General Manager.

Supporting National Climate Goals

Mastercard’s Carbon Calculator is now live with 33 customers across 12 countries, including Bulgaria, Hong Kong, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, UAE, and the UK.

The Carbon Calculator is part of Mastercard’s wider commitment to reducing carbon emissions and supporting global climate action. Mastercard has a target to reach net-zero emissions by 2040 and has developed the Sustainable Cards Program, which requires all physical payment cards on the Mastercard network by 2028 to phase out first-use PVC plastics. To date, more than 750 issuers across 108 countries have signed up to transition 685 million cards across our network to recycled and bio-based materials. By embedding environmental sustainability into the heart of its business, Mastercard aims to be the trusted partner for data, insights and technology that inspire, inform and enable a better quality of life for everyone.
